Keaton 11/07/09 Inshore

It's been a while since I've been able to do a little inshore fishing, work, things around the house, life in general, so with a watchful eye on the weather Peng and I made a last minute call to head down on Saturday. Reports from Keaton have been very good, so we were hopeful to catch a few trout and some bonus reds. Hit the water fairly early around 8:30, but noticed that most of the water had already blew out even though low wasn't until 11. Spent the morning catching bait and bouncing from spot to spot hunting a few keeper trout. Caught some large blues (somewhat surprised) a few small sea bass and some short trout. But to a large extent the trout in the morning were few and far between. Kept trying to find some dirtier water since what were were finding in the morning was crystal clear. Around 1 pm the wind died down considerably (it was blowing out) and the tide started to come in. About the same time we started to pick up some keeper trout in 4-5' including this nice one brought in by Peng:
Thinking we could move in a little and pick up a red or two along with some larger trout we moved into a nice looking area in 2-3'. The move proved to be a good one as we picked up a couple of nice reds including this fatty by Peng:
Also hooked up with a nice trout boatside:
We missed a few (including a nice red that broke off boatside) and several unclassified, but all in all it was a great day. Asside from a pretty strong wind to start the day the weather was ideal. Water temps went from 62 in the morning to around 66 in the afternoon. Water clarity varied considerably depending on where you were.
