Thanksgiving Holidays

Relatives from Atlanta and NC decided they wanted to spend Thanksgiving at SGI and I wasn't going to argue with them. I was hoping for 3 or 4 days of fishing, but NOAA predicted strong NW winds most of the week and NOAA didn't lie. Got down Wednesday afternoon and took my Dad out to fish the back side of the island. We only fished for an hour or two, but found a few decent trout to start the trip.

Woke up Thursday hoping to head to the cut for some bulls, but I saw white caps in the bay and it was blowing 15-20. Decided to put a turkey in the grease and kings on the smoker instead. Friday, the wind laid down a bit in the afternoon, so we made a trip for the running of the bulls. My Uncle is a tugboat captain in Norfolk, so I got to hear lots of good sailor stories.

Saw a few other boats, but didn't see anyone hooking up. I got fed up with the grouper rig and threaded some live shrimp to chunk light tackle at the rocks. Mission accomplished. My cousin from NC had no idea why they called them sheepshead.

With no bulls, we headed to the hill welcomed with a bushel of oysters. No complaints from me.

Talked to Salty Tiger and we planned to fish the incoming Saturday morning. The tide was coming in nice when he got the phone call from hell. I poured some out for you tonight brother.

Hope everyone had a good holiday. Tight lines.
