Carolina Casters' Hunting Cabin

Few of you may recall a few good posts I logged of trips out with the Carolina Casters... they brought GOOD luck with them their first trip to North Florida and had a blast scalloping their second trip down.

Well, this past week I finally made some time to visit them in South Carolina and checked out a cabin they built a few years back. Well, to say I'm jealous is a bit of an understatement... not that they've built a Taj Mahal, but instead a small, simple, warm inviting cabin in a setting in the foothills of the Carolinas that's hard to beat for anyone loving the outdoors. In just a few years they've put up some nice deer mounts, killed some great turkeys, and even have some beaver pelts they've gotten from a creek on their property.

Any of you want a hunting trip, might not hurt to say so in a reply to this post as these boys really like the saltwater life down here and might well be receptive to a good trip out in exchange for some hunting

Here's a shot of the cabin... have no idea why but when I said I wanted to take some pics the elder Caster immediately starting answering natures call. He's a bit weird like that  -- had to get even for the sunburn Sargent stripes he helped me get our last fishing trip out...

Here's a better picture of the cabin without any distraction...

Here's a video that gives just a taste for how scenic the setting truly is, and they own pretty much all in sight with no other homes visible...

Couldn't hunt with the Casters as had other commitments to keep but did get to see them off on their next hunt. Here the youngest Caster suits up...

Love Florida and it truly is home for me now, but always will be a deep sense of love for the Carolinas too.

Nice,

Is it located up in the North West corner of the State?

Looks like the Oconee or Sumpter NF in the view.

Close, DeanMac -- the cabin is in Jonesville, SC which is just outside Inman/Spartanburg. Not too far at all.

And DeanMac, I was raised not far from your stomping grounds and the cabin in Laurens, SC. Wife's from an even smaller town a few miles outside Laurens called Hickory Tavern.

I have been through Laurens all over most of the Western Piedmont of SC.

My Dad and Sister still live in Toccoa, might head up that way to visit this weekend. I need to pick up some things from a storage building I have on some land next to my Dad's for the Carrabelle place.

Very Nice! Looks like the perfect getaway... except the distance from the the Salt!

We could build something like that in Panacea!

Hats off to Big Bend Gyrene salute3 !
We enjoyed his visit on the farm... even treated him to a "bird dog" at the Jonesville Cafe.
The Carolina Casters are looking forward to another trip down the Econfina and some payback for his first pic.
