WTB--Bay Boat

I am looking in the 20 to 22 feet range and would prefer a 4 cycle outboard engine. I would buy a low hour 2 cycle with known history. I don't want to offend anyone, but No Mercury engines will be considered.
This boat would be used for more than just fishing, so a CC or DC would be OK. I am looking for a good, safe, dependable boat for my family.
I am trying to stay under the $10,000 price range with a purchase at or below book value.
Thanks for any leads you can give me.
Dean

Surely there is a story behind excluding Mercury motors!
Good Luck! It is a buyers' market for sure!

I have two boats with Mercury motors on them, you did not offend me at ALL.
Don't blame you and good luck with the search.

Maybe I should have not put that in the thread, but when browsing the ads, I just skip over the Merc's.
Just going on advice from friends, marine mechanics and what I have read on the web. I know there is lemons in every brand, but seems more of those problem motors that are used in the salt have Mercury on the cover. With so many boats for sale, why take a chance.
Good luck to all the loyal Mercury supporters and if I was going to use the boat in freshwater I would not have any issue.

Thank you
I am finding many boats that interest me at great prices (way below book value) but they are a long ways from where I am located. Central to South Florida, Miss, etc.
I am hoping to find something closer, but will take a road trip to shop if I don't find something in a couple months.

I have a merc and a Yammy. The Merc has pulled in its share of "other" brands. Free bump anyway.
