I fished Sunday with Capt. Simpson. We left the St. Marks river at day break and headed east. The bite was was very slow until the tide turned. We kept 8 trout from 15" - 18" and turned back about that many shorts. Pink and white grubs, Charturese and Space Guppy SWAs got almost if not all of the trout. I got a 4 1/2 pound sail cat on a fish bite tipped jig, the fish bites didn't seem to have any effect on the trout bite. Fished a glow DOA shrimp for a while and didn't get a bite.

The weather turned out OK, we got back about 2.30 pm and got the fish cleaned and the boat loaded before the rain started. It was pretty windy out on the flats though..

I didn,t realise you did much sea fishing, Ken.
That was a good session.
Was that Capt. Chuck Simpson ?
If so, he doesn,t post much on the Forums anymore, which is a shame.
I enjoyed his posts.

Shame about the fishbites.
I have been taught to fish the DOA by a Master, it is the best trout lure in the World.

I don't Cranfield, Sunday was my 11th day of fishing saltwater for 2003. I have one more trip planned at Thanksgiving to make it an even dozen. :D
Yes, it was Capt. Chuck Simpson. He is a heck of a nice guy.

I forgot to add that every trout we caught was with the help of a Cajun Thunder. I really prefer fishing without them and fished more than I probably should have with a straight jig. They were not interested in anything without the CJ this time.
