Had ice in my bucket this morning

...negative tide at 10:30...launched at 10:30. Headed off to explore a new area....get Lil Chalk situated and we start going down the bank. Didn't take long for two DA's in a aluminum boat to come idling past me and set up down from me...man I was hot...ended up bumping a school of reds. Decided to leave the DA's and their shrimp and corks to find some solitude.
Second stop....produced redfish swirls, wakes and tails....to bad we didn't find any redfish slime. The lunar calender said to day was poor - I believe it. We threw spoons, spinner baits (I never throw them anymore), inline spinners, jerk baits, topwater and suspending baits at them. Only had two redfish swat at a Bite-A-Bait in six hours and we saw over fifty fish today. It was so bad...I was bouncing a jerk bait real slow on the bottom and bounced it to a redfish and it ran

...Lil Chalk said we needed shrimp
Broke a rod, lost a pair of cheap sunglasses...enjoyed the day with my son watching the redfish run for their lives, ducks flying, pelicans crashing...so much fun the boat is still hitched and we are going to beat them non-eating fish in the head again tomorrow.

Barometric pressure is already over 30.30 and rising close to the monthly high of 30.45, which was yesterday
Unless the pressure falls with the warmth of the day...I expect to see the same spooky fish sitting on the bottom.
Trying to decide if fresh saltwater near the pass or mud bottom is the key to success with high pressure......thinking mud for the heat - only the fish will know

I agree Chalk. Mud for the heat is where I would go.

Good luck

We did better today
Caught two trout
Just as I predicted....spooky redfish waking from a cast or being poled onto....same as yesterday...fish were a little bigger as they ran from the boat today though.
If I can swing it...we are going to try some fish near the inlet tomorrow..see if the approaching weather will get them to chewing.
Loving this tunnel hull more and more each day....she is a skinny running mofo

In the spirit of dedication - today was a much better day....the barometer dropped below 30.2 and the redfish started to move and feed. Unfortunately we went to a new area and the wind was honking outta the southeast....we managed to see a few fish and had a few followers. I had one fish fishing to eat the bait I had been hoping in front of it for three feet and I wacked the push pole with the rod....the redfish was within 12 ft of the boat and left in a hurry. Saw a few more fish, but the honking wind made boat control and casting difficult.
The barometer was the key to getting the fish moving in my opinion....tomorrow suppose to be even better...if I could go I would.

Sorry Jumptrout and his buddy ruined your day.
I'm glad to see you and lil' Chalk are getting out there.
