We plan to visit the Big Bend region this spring (from freezing-cold Michigan)to do some fly fishing around Apalachicola and Carrabelle. I need to purchase new lines, backing, leaders and tippet. Is there a full service shop in the area that has a good selection of these items? Many thanks!

Nothing...nada
Your closest thing is Bass Pro and Orvis in Destin....best bring what you need. Even those stores suck IMO

Bluewater Outriggers in Port St. Joe has some fly fishing gear. If it is any good or not, I have no idea.

You had better stop in Atlanta at the fly shop. Can't remember the name but it's a good shop. They book saltwater trips there and had a full selection.

Its been a while since I've been there, schem, but you might call Forgotten Coast Outfitters in downtown Apalachicola; 850-653-9669.

I was there in November and was disappointed in what I saw. No where near the selection they once had.

Hey thats a good idea and it's right on your way. Just detour 6 days out of your way to Montana and buy up a bunch of trout gear and bring it to the salt. Brilliant!
