Anyone have any suggestions as to what type of treatment I should put on the connection point from my transducer/power cord coming out of my fishfinder? I have one mounted on a kayak for use on mothership trips and beach launches. I am trying to at least slow down the corrosion process. I basically leave the transducer and wire permanently attached to the kayak and remove the fishfinder when not using it.

Hey Jason,
Try CorrosionX. Spray it on the bare connection and let it dry for a minute before plugging in the connector. It is a little expensive, but does not wash off easily and does a very good job of protecting everything from trailer parts to electronics.

Yes, CorrosionX is good product and I'm sure Fred would has some.

I had troubles I bought the covers that Garmin sells & am very careful to keep it in place when not connected, every fourth or fifth trip I spray with a generic spray from NAPA I went from replaceing often to no more troubles.

Yeah, CorrosionX is good and comes in regular (red label) and heavy duty (green label).

Marine Electronics Grease (like that made by CRC) is another good option.

Dito on the CRC used it for years
