2/20 and 2/21...almost spring

Saturday Matt met me at my place a little after 6. We headed for the coast in search of trout. The first bar produced a heavy 18" fish, then we went a couple hours with little to show. We ran about 7 miles in search of cleaner water and found some. Shortly after we sat the boat down I hooked a just over slot fish and followed it with a 25" fish. We had a couple more bites on jerk baits just as tided started to move. Sorry my photographer isn't a little more refined, no idea how that guy "point and shoots" ducks when they're haulling azzz.

With time starting to fade, we decided to hit one creek for some dinner. The nearest creek was one that we had never explored before, but it presents an ideal setting. Easy to access at low tide, tons of structure and redfish stacked up. We managed a dozen or more reds, all 22-26", and missed several more. Aqua Deam lures were the ticket. Thanks Capt. Mike!

These guys made for a nice fish fry and we had some friends over to watch the US beat Canada.

Needless to say we got home a little late after finding the reds so we took saltwater off the calendar for Sunday. We did go chase from freshwater fish for an hour or two though. Had some nice hook-ups and the fish were fat. Those SGO hats really keep the sun off your face.

A great weekend with fabulous weather. Both days the water was like glass. I can't wait to go back to our newly discovered territory when the top water bite picks up in a couple weeks.
