To Carpet or Not To Carpet

I have an old bass boat where the carpet has been stripped out and have a combimation of loose carpeting and glue stuck to the inside of the boat. Asking for suggestions on how to get the loose material off of the fiberglass and to what I should use for the inside of the boat after I have prepared it. Carpeting or paint/fiberglass. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

SeaDek is what you want to replace it with.
Acetone and elbow grease to remove whats' there.

I had a friend in South Florida that used to buy and sell boats like crazy. After removing the old the old glue he would buy a gallon of contact cement. The kind used for Formica counter tops and then use a notched trowel to apply it with. This way the trowel would leave rows of glue and when you place the carpet on it you could still move it. Then put it out in the sun to dry and it is stuck. Warning contact cement is supposed to applied to each surface, dry and then place together. DO NOT DO IT THAT WAY. Once the two surfaces touch you cannot move them. I did this on a boat I reworked years ago and it works. I hope I explained it well enough, if not PM me and I will be glad to get into more detail.

Angle grinder with a sanding pad works great on the big piles of tough glue. Smaller spots a dremel tool works very well too. I have experience with all of the above.....
