Anybody ever fish in there? Do any good? I was just looking at the maps and google earth and got curious. Looks like it probably gets real skinny in some parts, but there seems to be some good structure in there too.

Skinny as in no water at all. On a high tide it is 24 inches deep.
The fishing in there is inconsistent at best.

I gotcha. Hard to tell from google earth. I sure appreciate the response. First of April wil be my second trip down there and the first solo without my friend (who's been going for 20 years) so I am trying to make sure I have gameplan before going. Last time we fished the West Flats and went in the East River. Didn't have time for anything else. I saw a bunch of fishing looking places channels coming up the river from Fish Camp to the flats. Is it
worth stopping to check out? How far do the trouts and reds get in the river that time of year?

I know 20 questions. I love this site though. I appreciate all the good info on here.

There should be fish all over the flats by the first of April. There will be boats all over the flats by the first of April. Ease out the mouth of the river. You'll see boats everywhere. Pick a spot. Start fishing. Enjoy.

You do realize you are taking advice from a guy who skunked the last tournament?? :smt005

Surprisingly enough, he happens to be correct. You will catch all the fish you want on the East or West Flat come April.... than is if it ever warms up. :smt011

Got my Florida Sportsman Fishing Chart today and it confirmed what you guys are saying. Not that I didn't trust you. Looks Oyster Bay and Goose Bay are both good Redfish spots? My wife really wants to catch one of those. I reckon I won't feel bad about catching one either.....
