Kentucky Lake - 3-19-10 - JT's Holes

Had high hopes today for Kentucky Lake after Lake Barkley was obviously contaminated by some sort of lock-jaw run off on Tuesday.
Dan and I put in at Kenlake marina at 8:45 this morning with the rest of the state of Kentucky. The weather turned for the better yesterday. It got up to 70 today and was bright an sunny. We had a SW wind at 5 - 10. The lake is still at winter pool.
We started the morning across the lake on some sand bars looking for smallmouth. Threw tubes and worked the banks pretty good. No fish on the machine and no strikes. Not even any shad to speak of. Headed south to some points and pockets. Cranked the points. I picked up one largemouth on a red eye shad (Sexy Shad). Nothing after that except problems with the settings on the new Lowrance HDS-7. Couldn't get the water temp to show on the sonar screen. The front machine showed 53 degrees. While Dan was workin' with that I was on the front of the boat fishing. Trollin motor pedal went slack all of a sudden. Cable slipped off the pedal attachment.
We spent 15 minutes fixing that. Looks like it may be one of those days.
Pressure on the lake was high today. There was a boat in every pocket, bay and creek channel. We spent the day playing leap frog with everyone down the shore line. We threw tubes, spinner baits, stick baits, crank baits, and road runners today. Once again, just like Tuesday, Red Eye Shad was the only thing to produce. I picked up one more largemouth and a drum. That was it folks. Nothin else on the day. I had three fish and Dan got skunked. We could find shad and saw fish on the machine, but nothing biting today. Didn't see anyone else catching fish on either. So it couldn't have been us! Must have been JT's holes and techniques.
Lakes just still haven't turned on. Need a little more Sun.
