It was on this weekend. It was my wife and I annual birthday trip down for a long weekend. After last weekend being kinda mediocre at best, it was a great change to have amazing weather ALL weekend instead of just a few days and the fish reacted accordingly.

Got down Thursday around 2 which was later than normal because of a little run in with the Worth County Sheriff's Office. I had my stretch of road confused and had the cruise set for 65 when it was only 55. First ticket in 11 years and i was not happy for being stupid. :smt010 :smt011 Got on the water around 3 and had 4 trout on the first drift all over 18 inches. I thought we were about to have a rare one drift limit. Not to be. Made the next drift and not a bite and the next drift with of about 6 shorts and one 15.5 incher. ended up with 6 for the afternoon. set up on some reds and it just wasn't really happening. got one fatty that was 26.75 inches and had several short strikes. got a little cool late so the wife was ready to call it an afternoon.

Friday was about the perfect day of trout fishing. on the water around 11 a.m. and the weather finally settled to low winds so i could get to my best spots to fish. had a limit of trout by 1:45. 2 twins at 22 inches, 6 between 18.5 and 19.5 inches and 2 at 16.5 inches. went for the reds and found another fatty that was 26.75 and lost two others that simply came unbuttoned. the reds were really spooky friday because of all the boats running around everywhere. lots of hits and short strikes without hookups.

Saturday was another great day on the water after some really rough seas to start with. we did a little playing on the four wheelers early in the morning and the wind just came out of no where around 10 a.m. then just like it started, it just died while we were out on the water about 2 making for a perfect spring afternoon.. The bite for the trout was much slower on Sat and we didn't have a limit until around 3:30 and the fish were not as nice. still had 5 that were over 18 inches. with the lack of folks on the water however, saturday afternoon the reds had settled down and we ended up with two keepers and 7 rats all within casting distance of two different points. it was a lot of fun.

after dinner on saturday, the group decided to go out for a sunset cruise and it was spectacular.

Sunday was our last day and we got out after an Easter Sunday Breakfast. On the water around 11:30 and a quick limit by 1 p.m. Back at the house for a quick shower and off to GA. Another great weekend to be out and a few fish to boot.

Very nice catch and a great weekend.
I have never known any of the Deputies to write someone a ticket for 10 over. Usually that means you were running faster and they reduced the speed to 10 over so it will not affect your license and insurance. I certainly don't intend this to sound like you were not being truthful so please dont think im trying to offend you.

thanks for all the kind words guys.

rotor,
i was definitely speeding. i guess you misunderstood. i just could have sworn where i got stopped was a 65 and had my cruise set accordingly. i was off by three miles as it was a 55. so yes, i was definitely over the 10 mph they give you. i just feel really stupid to get a ticket when i had my cruise set and not breaking the sound bearier or anything as most tickets.

killswitch, i am a mortgage banker (todd whitaker) for north georgia bank in watkinsville. thanks for speaking.

Now just a minute, I thought we had you on a shorter leash than this ... two weekend trips in a row. Why the fishery will never stand up against this pressure. I am gonna have to speak with Obama about this ... right after we get done discussing the evils of socialism and government take over of businesses for the sake of unions.

Sweet catch!

mud,
i guess i better ease up on the pics huh? the current administration will try to ban trout fishing in the gulf since they will be overfished. good grief......what r we gonna do with these people? :smt011 :smt011 you can look at it another way also, prices are going to be so high on everything in a few years you will have to catch and kill what you eat to be able to have an affordable meal. :D even with gas and oil figured in to the price of the filets. :o

killswitch, i have been curious why i haven't seen you down at the econ. great to hear from you.

I bet the deputy was bald-headed. Sorry you got a ticket in my neck of the woods.
