Friggen Franklin County Thieves

A buddy and I, along with our families fished out of Alligator Harbor today. We put in at the Sun N Sand boat ramp near Mariners Circle. We had a pretty decent day on the water, however, upon returning to Tallahassee late this afternoon, my buddy discovered that his tool box had been broken in to and about a grand's worth of tools, etc. had been stolen. We know the theft took place there because he stopped by my house in Crawfordville on the way down to pick us up and he put stuff in the toolbox to make room in his truck. He made no other stops going or coming back, other than dropping us off. The truck was parked closest to the water, which would have seemed like a deterent, but I guess it wasn't.

It really stinks that folks will go and still someone's stuff, especially their tools that help them make a living, etc.

If you see some thug sporting a Task Force 7 Fire Department rain jacket and you know they aren't a fireman, please shoot me a pm and let me know. The tools were standard tools, Dewalt skillsaw, toolbelts, hammers, framing squares, stainless steel screws, etc.

If you are heading over to that boat ramp, put all your stuff in your truck, as apparently breaking in to a locked toolbox isn't a problem for these arse holes.

Thanks JA. It's stinks that it happened, but unfortunately I know that we aren't the only ones who have had it happen to. I know folks who won't launch at Bottoms Road anymore due to being broken in to several times.

With as many Leo's that Franklin county has, seems that a sting operation should be set up at this ramp. Maybe one of the Leo's truck or car will be broken into and then we might see some action.
One would think.

As a LEO that works Wakulla and Franklin Counties, I can pretty much 90% gaurantee you that the person(s) responsible were not Franklin County locals... Those items are most likely in Panacea.

Heck, I'm from Wakulla myself. That's a good point wbass, it wasn't necessarily Franklin County Thieves, it was just some friggen thieves.... I remember a while back when thieves were breaking in to trucks at Shell Point pretty bad, at that time the Wakulla S.O. set up a sting and made some arrests. Maybe somebody will do that over in Franklin County as well.

I once came back in on my kayak only to find that the straps I use to put it on my truck had been stolen. I never leave anything in the back of my truck, or in plain sight inside my truck. I also leave the outside of my ice chests looking nasty all the time as a deterent to any would-be-ice-chest-thieves. One time I came back to the ramp to find some guys trying to steal a boat trailer from someone else, they hauled arse when they saw me coming. I wouldn't have realized what they were up to, had they not run away.

Thieves are everywhere, especially here lately.

Sorry to hear about the tools, that sux!!!! I had always just assumed that my locked toolbox was safe.
