The day started very early for me as I woke up at 3 am and couldn't sleep thinking of what was ahead for the day. My neighbor invited me and a couple of buddies out on his new 20' key west and wanted me to share with him some of the great luck that we've had this summer.

Got the boat in the water at 6:30 am. Wind was very rough. Caught about 4 dozen pinfish for bait out in the bay. Caught several trout shorts, and a couple keeper trout and 1 Spannie. Caught them under Cajun Thunders with live shrimp in about 4 feet of water. Caught 1 keeper trout on a red jig head and clear and shartruese SWA. Again, it was real slow, but the boat owner was impressed

Around lunch we decided to troll around Dog Island and head to the Dog Island Reef. Nothing but some 2 -4 rollers with some chop on top... Nothing trolling except a couple of tiny, 6 inch Sea Bass that wanted the Stretch 30 for Lunch...

The wind died down somewhat and we headed out for a way point that I had for 37 '. Hung into 1 big grouper, got off at the boat  Still impressed the boat captain... :P

Caught numerous grunts, short gags, and a puffer fish the size of a milk jug fishing the pinfish and a few live shrimp on the bottom.

At around 3 pm, the wind picked up again, so we motored back into the bay. 1 of the 4 of us began to get 'Green'. I offered him a Cigar and some cut bait on crackers to settle his stomach, but he declined...

Just at Sunset, caught a couple more Spannies and 1 more keeper trout, and a keeper Pompano back in the bay in about 4 feet of water.

Left the water at about 6:30 pm.

Keeper Catch for the Day:

4 Trout
1 Pompano
3 Spannies

I filleted all the fish and gave them to the boat owner. Maybe he'll invite me back again.

hey, sounds like a good trip.
At least you got to go out. I bet the wind did make it interesting.
