Florida BASS Federation State Tourney -- 5/2/10
Posted: May 4th, 2010, 9:29 am
My son Avery joined the Junior Bassmasters this year and this past weekend was time for his first state tournament at the Bienville Plantation in White Springs. We tried to leave Tallahassee Friday night, but got delayed due to the monsoon. We finally got on the road around 11:00pm so we could be there early Saturday am for the pre-fishing. The boys pre-fished from 10:00am to 5:00pm with a nice cookout to follow.
Sunday morning 4:00am wake-up came early....too early. We got the boys to the lake and they launched at safe light. I chose to go back to bed at the hotel
We headed back to the Plantation around 1:30pm to get ready for the 2:30pm weigh-in. The heat and humidity was awful. Avery was in boat #4 and him and his partner were first to weigh in their fish....
Official weight was 6.75 lbs. for his 3 fish limit
Avery placed 7th out of 24 anglers in the 15-18 year old group. Not to shabby for his first state tourney
It was a great weekend and he is already looking forward to the next one!
Here's a few more pics of the festivities.....
Don't forget your plug.....
