Pompano in PSJB

Two weekends ago, I headed to Cape San Blas to meet up with my parents who are staying there for a month (the retired life). The water was a bit rough, but we decided to launch out of the state park and fish Sunday (April 25) late afternoon/evening. Because the water was choppy, we went north out of the launch and stayed in about 4 - 6 feet of water. It wasn't long before Mom caught this lovely 18" guy under a popping cork and live shrimp. He fought and fought; I was certain we'd lose him. When he was done running, I manned the net.
Not bad for a couple of Michiganders.

We baked him in the oven with olive oil and a little seasoning. One of the best fish I've ever eaten. Dad (Rich) will be fishing the tournament tomorrow and Mom (Carol) and my little brother Mike will be coming to weigh in. I talk about the club all the time and I'm so excited that they'll finally get to meet some of you!
