Kings, Snapper, Reds, etc

Post by Talltails »

I fished a couple days this last week with varying degrees of success. Wednesday I paddled out to the bay after the rains came through and caught an hour of some epic topwater action. Picked up some nice reds and trout.

I also had a huge boil around my Super Spook that had replaced 4X hooks on it. A couple of good headshakes later the fish spits my plug and when I reeled it in, this is what I found(20 # braid 20# leader and light drag) The fish ripped two of the treble hooks off the splitrings and straightened the hooks on the other :o

Friday I went a bit west of Panama City and beach launched. We paddled out a couple miles to around 70 feet of water. On the way out while trolling we picked up some decent Kings

Fishing a couple wrecks, we picked up some nice snapper and grouper.

Beach fishing this time of year from a kayak is a blast. With a little bit of knowhow and the right gear, you can really have some good success out there. Good times!

To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

SUPER! Don't you just love it when a plug gets destroyed like that? I like to hang those on my "lure wall of fame."
Given the choice of great fish or poor tackle I go with the fish....every time!

The idea of being a "couple" mile sout and pulling in Grouper from a yak just don't seem right. I have a long way to go to get that comfortable in a yak.
