Hands Helping Anglers - June 5 - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Post by caseycook »

Saturday, June 5, 2010, the North Florida Gulf Fishing Club and the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association will be holding the 17th annual Hands Helping Anglers event. We are looking for volunteer captains who are available to take some participants from the FDOA for a day of fishing. We’ll provide free lunch, snacks, drinks, and bait to all volunteer captains. These folks only get the opportunity to go fishing one day a year and much like the Take a Kid fishing event, we rely on volunteers to help us make this event a success. If you have any questions, please post them here, send me a PM, or give me a call (850) 228-8559.

Who’s in?
1) Showmans
2) Sir Reel
3) Jumptrout
4) CC
5) Skip

Anyone else out there that can help??? We have 18 anglers already signed up and less than five boats that have volunteered. I promise that this will be one of the most rewarding things you do. Give me a call at 850.228.8559 if you have any questions or concerns.

Anyone else available to help????

No experience neccessary, these folks just want to be out on the water enjoying their only fishing trip of the year. They're just as excited catching pinfish as they are 50 lb cobia. We've got several anglers who are still without a boat at the moment...I promise you won't be disappointed. We even have a couple people who've offered to donate their boat to an experienced captain for the day. Help a brotha out!!!!

10-4. You da man. I'm meeting today with the FDOA people to start pairing anglers with boats. It's not too late to sign up to captain the event. REMEMBER: Everyone who signs up gets the GPS coordinates for one of Jumptrout's holes!!!

Good morning capnmorgan.

Yeah, I'm not Casey but I believe I can answer your question. Most of the participants will depart from Shields. Their docks are the most compatible for wheel chair access and being friendly to other types of physical challenges getting into and out of boats. The departure times can vary depending on how the individuals are being transported. You will most likely be given a contact # for your angler so you can coordinate with them. There generally has not been any set time for coming back in and left up to the Captain and guests. If I've led you astray with previous years history, I'm sure Casey can set us straight. It's not real rigid as for as rules, etc. You'll enjoy.
