Just wanted to let everyone know we've acquired an imaging system from Canfield Scientific that shows non-visible UV damage caused by sun exposure.

The test was a real eye opener for me. While Pam has taken good care of herself for years, I have been lackadaisical in following her recommendations to ALWAYS use sunblock, often only applying it once the sun/temperatures had risen enough to get my attention. Here are the results of failing to listen to my better half (be forewarned you might want to hide any small children/pets):

Admittedly, I'm 42 years old and have always loved the outdoors so the fact I've suffered a great deal of sun damage hasn't been completely shocking. However, lest anyone think that damage correlates with age, we have a 21 year old female staff who agreed to be tested and her scan showed damage even more severe than my own. Pam, on the other hand, passed the analysis with flying colors, scoring highly in every single category relative to her peers. She definitely has been practicing what she preaches and has acted to reverse a good deal of damage she suffered as a teen who sought to tan.

We are very thankful to have many BBF members as patients and just wanted to share the news on the new imaging system. In addition to UV damage, it also maps wrinkles, visible brown spots, red areas of the skin, porphyrin levels (indication of bacterial levels), and grades the results as a percentile against others the exact same age. We are providing this analysis at no cost to our patients so if you are interested in having the analysis done during your next visit, just let our receptionist know when you arrive for your next scheduled appointment.

Apologize if my picture scared anyone too badly! :( Seriously folks, please, please, please be sure to use sun protection while out on the water. salute1

Fla Sportsman mentioned either in April or May about sun damage. The quote that sticks out in my mind was that "a person living 23 years in FL equals a full lifetime of sun compared to someone of the midwest or northeast."

If the imaging makes you look like that I don't want one.

Why's that, JT? In your case, pretty sure it would actually be an improvement! :-D
