Had a Stradic 4000 reel that after about 3 years had a grinding feel when reeling. Tried to take apart and figure out what was wrong..........what appeared to be a broken piece of something fairly important fell out in the grass and I couldn't find the piece. Sent the reel to Shimano and guy says, this reel is pretty worn and missing a part.......said he will give me a trade and send a new 4000 for $125..............so waiting on the mail man Dude.

They have done that for me too in the past...sent a baitcaster that I could never fix in....they called and said that reel has a problem once being taken apart - you want something else for about the same price

Chappy was over here fishing and told me that he sent in three Shimano Spheros 3000 reels and they had similar issues with missing parts. Shimano called him while we were fishing in Hickory Mounds and sold him 6 Spheros reels for a grand total of 225 and kept his three reels. That was on Friday, and when he got home on Monday there were 6 new reels at his house.

Doesn't surprise me Shimano stands behind their reels. What does surprise me is that you guys had to send them back. Never had a problem with any of the ones I have.

We use them a lot since we live down here by the water. By the way, go say hey to my uncle James at the Ace in Winder, GA

They do stand behind their product as well as or better than most other companies.

You have to actually catch fish on them before you have a problem.

I caught plenty today on some of the holes I let you fish CC.

Just like the cars I work on, the people who have the most trouble are those who do the least amount of maintenance. The only trouble I have had with any Shimano product was due to my neglect. Which I am proud to say is very little. Yes Mr. smart aleck JT51, I do actually catch fish on those reels that give me trouble free performance.
By the way. I ordered some ceramic ball bearings and ceramic line guide pawls. I installed them in my Shimano bait casters. I have not found an area near the house that has a long enough clear spot to see how far they will cast. I do know it is a loooooooooooong way. Much farther than with stock parts. The reels operate noticeably smoother also.
