I haven't been fishin in a few months since my wife and i had our first baby girl....the dust settled enough for me to sneak out to econfina this am to do some fishin.

started out fishin top water and nice slot red right off the bat. After that, had a few misses and then topwater seemed to fizzle out. Switched to a redfish majic spinner bait and my partner a gold spoon. From that point on we caught fish steady until slack tide and the bit stopped. It was blazen hot so we decided to call it a day. Most of the reds we caught were small reds, but we did have a double hookup with 2 large reds that had us doing a chinese fire drill in my riverhawk....i can't believe no rods were broken during the process....got both fish up next the boat and while were doing our last hokey pokey and both broke off. We ended up catching 6 reds and lost 3. Good day in my book. Ready to go again.....

Good deal. :-D Question, how long have you used that fresh water trolling moter in the salt? What do you do to protect it?

I've had this particular one for about 2 years now. It still looks / runs like the day i got it. I don't do anything special to protect it.....just spray it down really good and keep it covered. I usually hit the foot pedal too with WD after it's dry. I will say that I'm not down at the coast with my boat every weekend though....i probably use my boat in the salt a dozen times a year. Before this one, i had a fresh water transom mount that lasted probably 10 years. It finally went kaput....i think the only reason it did, but because it sat on my boat uncovered for about 6 months and i think some rain water seaped into the head and down the shaft....that motor saw plenty of salt in its days.
