Seacrest Beach

I'm headed to Seacrest Beach with some friends for the weekend. We'll have 3 kayaks an assortment of rods and no clue where to start.

We can obviously fish the surf but might like to find some inshore action too. I think we'll be close driving distance to Choctawhatchee bay (sp?).

Any suggestions?

Hogtown Bayou or Navarre Sound would be some good places to start....alot of boats of there...be careful.

Also, Choctawhatchee Bay can get very rough very fast. Especially middle of the evening. I would stay close to the area you put in at.

Well, we had 2 nice half day trips on Hogtown Bayou, one around the mid-day period and one at dawn 'till lunch'ish and both were really confounding.

Conditions were perfect, the flats were active and we saw tons of fish but couldn't get them to bite. We threw thousands of casts, topwater, jigs, gulp under CT's, jerkbaits, spoons, spinnerbaits...1 foot of water, 2 feet of water, 3 feet of water, 4 feet of water, 6 feet of water...grassy bottom, sandy bottom, spotty bottom, blah, blah, blah!

It was an awesome time though, seeing the flats from a kayak, I have learned, is mega addictive. My friend (jmdasher) just got himself a kayak and now I want to replace the loaner I was using with one of my very own.

I would go back to those spots again though, it was a perfect spot except the fish didn't cooperate!

Thanks for the tips!
