I need a new 6' spinning rod (odd how the graphite rods do not stand up to being stood upon!)

It is for a Sahara 3000 with flourocarbon 8 or 10 lb. I like Medium light in the 6'.

What would be a good decently sensitive rod for $100 or under. I am not real picky about brands and will hold some in my hand tommorrow, but wanted some opinions from the experts. It will be 99% for reds and trout. I have other rigs with different line and length combos.

Any thoughts?

Ugly Stick makes a "Lite" series that is a great rod for around $60. It is hard to beat the quality, right RHTFISH???

What are you going to be doing with it? Throwing corks w/ live bait or artifical? Throwing top water plugs? Chunking spoons?
How heavy are your lures or live baits?
Is this rod for casting all day or dragging behind the boat?

Choosing a fishing rod is a little more complicated than asking which one.

I use my "four" Ugly Stik Lights for Bass and Trout/Reds. I throw top water, sling corks, run shallow divers, cast worms and troll with them They will bring in a 30"Red and are sensitive enough to feel a Bass take a worm I have three 7 footers and one 6 footer

Shimano Terramar at Kevins. Other places may have them too and they are tough rods

Cheaper by the dozen and they do fish well.....! Match with a Daiwa SS 1300 and some very light power pro and keep the drag loose and have some fun!
I usually carry at least 5-6 rods and 3-4 are 6'6" medium Lite Ugly Stiks and I use the freshwater versions since the handles are not so long.
When (seldom) something does happen to one, I don't cry near as much as when a St. Croix or Daiwa Inshore goes south!

South Georgia Outdoors will hook you up - 7 ft Challengers is what I use...got some Shimano Terramars on the way too.

Why not have REEL COWBOY build you a custom rod. Just tel him what you want to fish for and with what bait and let the expert fix you up.
Heck he may have one laying around the shop that is just what you need and at a good price.

6 foot rods are for catching pinfish. Get you a 7 foot plus rod for saltwater.

Shimano Teramar is tough to beat. They are durable, sensitive, and have a lot of backbone. I have two that I use right beside my G. Loomis rods. The Teramar are a little (very little) heavier, but just as capable. I primarily use them for cajun thunders and jigs, with no complaints. If I remember correctly, Kevin's has them at $89 for up to 6'11". The 7 footers and up are $99. Please do not hold me to the pricing. It was that way about two months ago.

It is for mostly jig/spoon with some topwater. I have the 7 footers, but I want a 6' rod as well. I wade fish some and this will be the main wading weapon with some boat work thrown in. Good idea Cairo, now I just need to make the time to get that way. Thanks for all the ideas.
