Yesterday was a comedy of errors. Went out to do a little bass fishing on Jackson with TroutTrent and the Lake Jackson mafioso Jumptrout51.

First, "we" got in a hurry and tried launching the boat with the straps still on. Pull up, take the straps off and try again.

As we idled out the channel, TroutTrent realized he'd forgotten his rods. Beach the boat, let TT out to run to his truck to get his rods.

We're finally underway. We fished for the first hour and a half with nothing to show. Moved locations and ran to Church's Cove and fished for an hour or so and I caught a dink bass. As we cranked the boat up to move again, I realized that I had no steering whatsoever. Look back at the motor and as I turn the wheel, hydraulic fluid is shooting out all over the back deck of the boat. Great, so we're 3 miles from the ramp with no steering and about an hour and half until dark. Luckily the LJ Mafioso was able to call Johnny at Shuckers and send out the Basshole tow service.

Special thanks to Basshole for the tow. The good news is that the boat is already in Perry and that it's a quick fix hopefully covered under warranty. Thanks to TT and JT51 for the brief tour of the lake. Hopefully JT won't put the Sapillo Hex on me or the boat next time.

Casey, you're doomed. After JT fished out of my bass boat I had to sell it and buy another one. I hope you fare better than I did.

Glad to know about that. I was gonna invite JT to go fishin one of these days, but I don't want to have to buy a new boat or trailer or motor or tow vehicle or all 4 :smt107

The fix:
1. Take steering arm loose from motor
2. Sit on top of motor and use fanny steering
3. Throw JinxTrout51 overboard
4. Call Basshole to tow JT to the ramp

Never thought of that one. Thanks for the tip
1. Take steering arm loose from motor
2. Sit on top of motor and use fanny steering

Now as for #3 I think a lot of folks have thought of that! :-D :-D :-D

I learned that trick last night. Unfortunately I didn't have a wrench big enough to undo the bolt holding in the steering arm. Don't worry, JT gave me a list of things I needed to buy for the boat...
