My friend Dan Miller has been embedded with the 3rd Battalion of the 1st Marine Division since July of 2009. In April of 2010 the "3-1" shipped out to Afghanistan. Dan is an advisor, having last served with the very same unit in Viet Nam. He’s been teaching them how to disarm IEDs and goes on patrols daily.

Dan’s local Marine Corps League, Detachment 1011, has adopted the "3-1". The League has decided to get a care package to every Marine and Sailor in this Battalion, of which there are 1100 individuals. The League does not want any of these warriors to be left out and feels very strongly that this is the least we can do to show our appreciation to those that are placing their lives in harms way and making sacrifices, to protect US, the United States of America, from this war against terrorists.

These care packages will include baby wipes, q-tips, Chap Stick, sun screen, hand sanitizer, tooth paste, chewing gum and a foil packet of tuna fish at the cost of $10.00 per packet.

If you can provide assistance for this endeavor, please send a check to the following address, and place "3-1 Battalion" in the memo line of your check:

Marine Corps League, Detachment 1011
P.O. Box 1652
Murphy, NC 28906

Any amount of support will be appreciated.
