Well.... I had intended to post my Oklahoma experiences before now but circumstances would not allow. Spent Thanksgiving week in Oklahoma City with Son and family. We scheduled a trip to Lake Texoma to fish for stripers while we were there. It turned out to be cold (mid 20's for chill factor) and very windy (25-30 knots with gusts) They ain't kid'n when they sing about the wind sweep'n down the plain!

We made the two plus hour drive from OK city and got to the ramp about 7:30. Our guide, Butch Dodson was the only soul in sight and he was walking back and forth trying to stay warm. He greeted us with..â€

Did somebody mention Striper fishing? That would be my cue to trot out my favorite fishing picture.
I was freezing my azz off too.
Can you catch these things when it isn't cold?

Nice report SR. The suit your son has on is prettier. Did he have problems staying dry? He has good taste. (his suit is like the one I wear. Gortex Gubment style)

Do ya'll save them to eat? Don't care for them as table fare myself.

Afternoon CS.
My son stayed just as dry as I did. His suit is gortex complements of USAF issue.
As to the question of table fare.... they will never replace trout!

but the midwest folks don't know any better(no offense intended ...cause my roots are firmly embedded there) and they ate every thing I fried up!

The larger fish have a good amount of red down the side that needs to be removed. The texture is much firmer (even tough to some) than most anything I could compare it to that comes from our waters. Never the less it still made up a good fish fry!
Ken.. that is a great pic. I've got one somewhere of a 14lb'er my wife caught out of Lake Norfork a few years ago(on 8lb test...she always makes me put that part in!!

) You may be on to something about only catch'n em when its cold..... It was cool then as well but not quite like my last experience.

Some nice pictures and a good report.
Stripers are on my list of, fish to be caught.
Preferrably from the surf.
But, a nice lake caught fish , would not be frowned upon.

Cran, folks have been catching some large stripers in the St. Marks river lately. I know of a 14 Lb caught last week, and a 21Lb caught the week before that.
