Each day was pretty much the same, any live pinfish dropped to any of the reefs or structure was met almost immediatly with a hit from an undersized AJ or shark....spent most of the time ranging from the O tower to the K tower, spent time at the Yamaha reef, 2 dogs reef and rose city...several undersized grouper, an assortment of snapper, cobia, Kings, large jacks and pesky barracuda

We fished 40' to 70" and pretty much had the same sort of action at every depth, any structure had fish on it

Caught probably 100+ fish if you count everything over the 3 days. I was amazed at the amount of undersized AJ's out there, figured we would run across a keeper but never did.

Highlight of the trip would have to be the cobia my friend caught and the back to back kings that i managed on a vertical jig...man those kings can almost destroy the cord on the assist hook!!!!!

Great report! We too went to Carrabelle this weekend and fished the same spots with about the same results. Ran out of pinfish sunday and were cating AJ's @ K tower off vertical jigs. Would not bite cut bait at all. I was amazed at how well the jigs worked.

some extra thoughts about my trip....

I can see now that I will be spending more time in the nearshore/offshore area....with that said, I now see that there will have to be an upgrade in my electronics...I have the Lowrance 520c mounted on my boat, but after talking to several of the locals down in carrabelle, I can see that my unit would have to be classified as "barely" acceptable.....there was a couple of guys down there in a beautiful Yellow Donzi, they were in town for a tourney, we gave them some pinfish that we were going to throw out anyway, and they in turn offered some advise on where to look for some keeper grouper and such...they had 2 LARGE Raymarine displays in their console...after talking electronics, he confirmed that I was hurting my fishing with my choice,,,,he said he could see a good snapper "show" at 50 knots with his rig...he also told me to ditch the transom mount ducer and go with a thru-hull ducer.....

All I can say is DAAAAYYYYUMMMM!!!!! these new fangled electronics are expensive!!!!!! for just one unit, it was more than my current depth finder, vhf radio and my 82lb 60" shaft trolling motor COMBINED!!!!!!!!! did I mention DAAAAYUMMMMMM!!!!!!....

Knowing I need to upgrade vs being able to upgrade is where I stand now.....figuring out what I really need to upgrade to and then seeing what i can find one for is my current project.....any and all input and advise on GPS chartplotters/Fishfinders would be appreciated
