Does anyone know of some offshore wrecks/reefs that has strong king mackeral fishing off the St. marks area

I'd venture a guess that they would be in 50-75 feet of water. I am new to these waters and don't know of many wrecks.

I have not had much luck with kings around St. Marks - 50-75' is a loooong ways out of St. Marks. Have caught some juvenile kings over around keaton and some keeper kings out of lanark/carabelle on that buoy line. Within reasonable traveling distance, the best luck for kings in my opinion is mexico beach. Head out to the buoy line, car bodies, or virginia reef (all public #'s). Troll a duster with a frozen cigar minnow. We are headed down tonight hoping to catch a few more while the oil is still holding off.

I have caught quite a few kings trolling for grouper. Most were keeper size. I was only 15 to 20 miles out of Econfina in about 30 feet of water. There is nothing like hooking one of those firecrackers. Just have a good captain at the wheel, and prepare to be all over the boat keeping your line out of the props.

Oh, and use a wire leader, a must.

A flat line with a live or dead cigar minnow out the back while anchored and grouper fishing will get you all you want. Probably no smokers but who wants to eat those anyway? Plenty of 8-25 pound fish out of St. Marks.

You may want to run 50lb fluro instead of steal if the bite slows.

This was actually my plan.

I was planning on using stinger rigs......Do you get many cut offs with 50 LB mono?

Has anyone trid any of these locations for Kings, snapper and grouper?

Seldom will you go to one of them #'s and NOT find someone already there

Are they good locations despite that?

I'm heading out tomorrow after finally getting the boat working. We took the boat out and ran it a bit last weekend and we are ready to go offshore this weekend.

I noticed that the water temps may be getting cooler thanks to all of the rain we have had recently. How do you think that will effect the offshore bite in the water range we were discussing....30-50 ft.

What size hooks/leader would you recommened on a dropper rig for bottom fishing?
