More booms

Spent some time on my charter today fishing to the west and more booms are being placed in Franklin Co. There was a large crew boat off St. Teresa Beach and it looked like smaller work boats (Vessels of Opportunity) were working around Turkey Point Shoal and preparing for the next phase off Alligator Point.

I'm glad they are taking preventive measures, but it's sad to see this activity. Not only is it disrupting the fishing, but it's a possible harbinger of things to come.

Frankly I hope Franklin County never needs them.
Wouldn't that be a blessing for our end of the Gulf?

I do too, Steve. But it's sure wreaking havoc with my shiner fishing.

This weekend we saw a double row of booms along the backside of SGI screening off the bay at the state park boat ramp, more down by Marsh Island, and some preliminary layout for booms across East Pass. When we looked up close a couple of commercial fishing boats came to tell us we should not jump over the booms or it would tear them up, one wrote down our boat number.
