Ran from Panacea and the first ones we saw were near Mud Cove at AGP.

The layout is staggered like _____-------______ so there are places to run through them.
they have floats at each end- like a tie off buoy- and big white balloon floats to make them easier to see.

Most were yellow but there were red ones at the entrance to Alligator harbor.
They could be fish magnets for a while- shade and a floating object


Funny thing to me is they are just plastic sheeting wrapped over floats that hang down maybe 2 feet into the water.
Nothing to absorb oil... Anyone know how they are suppose to work?

Hey BMan, That type of boom is called "containment boom". The goal with this boom is to keep the oil out of an area or divert it to another area. The "skirt" below the boom is supposed to help stop oil from going under the boom. The problem is when the current gets too strong, the oil "entrains" the boom and gets past it.
Absorbant (sausage) boom is made of absorbant material that actually absorbs oil and then the boom is disposed of. The absorbant boom is usually white in color (although blue, pink, and sometimes orange neeting is used).
