Got out of the Light house around 7am. I was expecting a tremendous blow out of the east, but was pleasantly surprised that the wind held off until I got to my first spot. My second topwater cast raised a Redfish that made a loud sucking sound as it missed my plug. Many casts later with no luck convinced me to change to a spoon. Another many casts later in water that I was certain was holding fish had me thinking I should have stayed home. About that time I felt the tell tale thump of my spoon striking an underwater object. Then my line started to move sideways. It was about that time I figured it would be in my best interest to set the hook. It does not happen often, but there are times when a fish strikes in a way that it just does not feel like a fish, or anything for that matter. The battle was on. Back and forth, side to side. I finally subdued a very nice Redfish that measured 27 3/4 inches.

I plundered the surrounding area with no success so I went to spot #2. I found the smaller brother of my first Red. He measured 17 3/4 inches. I had 3/4itis.
I moved out to the flats around Grey Mare rock and set up a drift that produced 3 Seatrout of keeper size, but only two made it into the boat. One 17 1/2 and one 16 inches. After that I made a few downwind runs to put some more break in time on the new motor, then packed it in. All in all a good day!
Looking forward to spending a relaxing day with some family tomorrow.

I forgot to include that I caught the Trout on Newpenny Gulp rigged Texsposed on a weighted hook in 3 1/2 to 4' of water. I was looking for anything that could get through all the grass. Any suggestions of productive lures that do not get hung on the floating grass every 6 inches would be welcome.
