Hey Harmsway,
Looks like you might have just stopped in the rest area to let your pet gator take a leak.

Shark steaks are pretty good, too . . . Here's the one we kept today. We let the 7-footer go.

Love what he said at the end. "I just eased through them and went fishin."

I know this is off subject, but if the bullets aren't penetrating the bottom of the trash can, what's the point of shooting under water? I guess the percussion would make the gator get out of there.

Here are a few pics from my night time adventures on the flats and creeks at St Marks. These gators are not scared of people. See the last picture......you don't always see them, but they see you.

They like to lay on the bottom in the creeks too

I want to say we had another thread here where I shared this story but here goes. I'm not really scared of gators (so you don't think I'm trying to sound macho I will admit to being cautious of snakes, and straight up scared of getting roughed up on the flats) but I would prefer to not be within 34,654 miles of them during mating season. I was in a slough on the Wacissa River in my jonboat and 2 gators who were running from me made such a crash that almost left me in a bad situation lol! I got the heck out of there and went to another slough. They were bellowing all day long but it was coming from pretty far into the woods on the bank. Well in the 2nd slough I heard 1 close. I stopped...looked around...and even though I never saw a gator I then heard 1 that was so close I heard his slobber gurgling in his throat as he bellowed very loudly. #bye

Had way more encounters with gators than sharks and Barry, birdshot of sufficient size will actually put a hurting on a gator. Don't ask me how I know. Between the two, I think I would rather encounter a gator.

Pretty new here, but have encountered a few gators in my yak. So far so good. They have been very wary and just sunk out of sight or swam away. No monsters yet. Haven't experienced any sharks yet I know of for sure. Have had dolphin and manatee and a few large "have no idea what just swam by" encounters. Maybe just as well I couldn't identify....LOL
