My father-in-law (a true kindrid spirit to us) is looking for a new Lowrance fish finder. He has a 18.5 ft Predator and fishes mostly bay and near shore water. He has used a Lowrance before. He wants to spend about $200 for an new one but would like some input on Lowrance or other fish finders in this price range.

$200 is a little on the light side for a "good" Lowrance fishfinder. The x-65 is going to run about $269. I would suggest looking at the the Eagle fishfinders. They are made by the same folks with the same parts at the same plant, but the Eagles are considerbaly less $$$. Take a look at the Eagle ® FishMark ™ 160 for $219. This is the same machine as the x-65. Here is a pic.
