Red Lobster is as good as it gets?

The wife is lamenting the fact that Red Lobster seems to be the best Tally has to offer. She doesn't like fried or blackened. What are the real seafood joints to go to for good eats in the area?

lonesouth:

If you ever fish out of Keaton. Clean what your family would normally eat and go to the Hot Dog stand. They will fry you fish and make you a meal of fries, grits, slaw and sweet tea that is delicious! Get the "house batter" on your fish. You don't need your own fish but it would take off a few dollars.

The place looks like you should wait outside and get you take out, handed to you but strangly enough they have room (?) for about fifty people. Crowded for sure, if full, but coozy!

Other good places out of Tallahassee as well.

Try Cabos. They usually have a fresh seafood special that is reasonable. All of their fish is available grilled, fried or blackened. It is a casual dining experience and the serving staff is personable. Also you won't need a second mortgage to pay the bill. Personally, I have never had a bad meal there, regardless of what I ordered, burger,tex/mex, or seafood. The hand cut fries are extremely yummy too.

Give Stinky's Fish Camp on Mahan east of Cap Circle ( truck route for you old guys) between ( former Rose and Thorn and Car Museum) the third and fourth traffic lights. Fish menu changes with catch of the day. Never had a bad meal there.

I second TallyFish's recomendation of Stinky's Fish Camp... their slogan is "With a name like Stinky's, it better be good"... and it reasonably priced.

Stinkys is good. Their pie is awesome!

All of the fancy places like Cypress, Food Glorious Food, & Mozaik have seafood dinners. I like Sakura for sushi and Japanese. Mockingbird Cafe moved to Tallahassee from Havanna and has seafood dinners amongst other things and live music every night.

If you like oysters, Birds Aphrodisiac Oyster Shack is fun. Their grouper sammy is good.

Try Paradise Grill. It's at the intersection of 7th Ave, Meridian Road and Thomasville Road. They have grilled, blackend or fried grouper, Mahi, Talapia, shrimp and fish tacos. Some days they have shrimp n grits as a special that is great. Their grouper sandwich is the best.

I eat there two or three times a week. They have donated gift certificates to NFGFC too.

The Sienyard out towards St. Marks is good seafood. Huge portions so be prepared to share of take some home. But if she doesn't like blackened and fried what else is there? :lick:
