I would go to http://www.boattrader.com and do a search. There are boats on there that sell for 3,000 and they arent that bad at all.

14 - 16 foot jon boat with a 25. Best all around freshwater and saltwater boat. Rivers, creeks, flats, ponds...........everything but offshore (unless your name is WEVANS. He'd take a 10 foot jon boat with a 5 horse Clinton to the O Tower - and catch fish trolling all the way.

A J16 Carolina Skiff with a 25 would be a good choice too.

HEY, I resemble that remark  I don't think I could ever go back to anything shorter than 17 foot anymore :D I can fish the flats, rivers, lakes and YES, OFFSHORE with mine  but it cost 13,500 new also :-? I would look at 16 - 18 footers with a V or semi-V and you can get a decent used boat for 3 grand

Looks like a lot of folks gettin' ride of those black moters... My recomendaton would be for a jon boat also, you can get a 2003 Yamaha 20hp for about 1900.00 that leaves you with plenty to buy a used jon boat and trailer. You can fish a bunch with a boat like that, fresh and salt water, it drinks almost no gas, and you can scollop, etc out of it.

Well I live in tallahassee, and I want to do fresh and salt water.

I would prefer for a boat that can do everything in fresh and just fish the flats in saltwater about 1 mile out.

But I may have 4000k to spend and I wouldnt mind getting a jon boat.

Im not sure what kinda of jon boat I Could get but I would like to
slap some seats on it and I heard you can get the floor done so it
has some sort or carpet.

I went to boattraderonline.com and did a search of 12-20' boats in the $2000-$3000 price range and found 186 of them in Florida. Including a 1976 20' Grady w/200 hp Johnson and also a bunch of aluminum boats with 9 to 50 hp clamped on the back.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive, you can get a lot of boat for $3000. Once my house is done and the banks paperwork is out of the way I may go looking for another boat :P .

Ill look into it!
:P

I believe I finally got a job now, so I should be able to sit back and
wait about 5 months or so and then do some serious shoppin and lookin around.
