Keaton beach fishing/scalloping 8/7/10

My family and a friend of my son got on the water at daybreak. The sunrise was beautifull but the sky was ominous.
We hoped it would blow over and we headed south since that is where we intended to scallop. the fishing was not good and a squall line was headed our way. But we did manage one keeper trout and this monster.
The smallest trout ever caught on our boat. We did not start scalloping for 2 hours past when we would have because of the lightning. And when we did it was tough with the dark skys and wave action stirring the water some. ended up having to run back north to get away from the rain.
The scallops were hard to come by today. We moved 5 times and could not find them thick anywhere. Wound up with 5 gallons and two wiped out boys.
It was still fun and we got dinner. Saw a lot of neat critters today, but nothing to spear.
