Game Camera Suggestions

Post by jadams92002 »

After 3 years of faithful service one of my trail cams died. :smt059 I was wondering if anyone has a favorite and what makes it good.

Thanks Grizzly

Man the trail camera business has really changed in the last couple years. I had 5 of the same model (about 4 years old) and really happy with them, but had a couple die and did some recent research. Those were Stealth WD'S ( they made and WD1, WD2, WD3) IMO most of the Stealth products are junk and I could not find anything new that compares to the old WDS.
Trigger time and battery life is a big factor in my opinion.

chasingame.com has a ton of reviews and information, there is getting so many models it is really confusing, I actually sent the owner a email a few months ago and he recommended the Moultrie 55 for my needs, but I have not tried one. I know the old moutries would take a bunch of ghost pictures (nothing on the shot) and eat batteries like candy.

I really didn't decide what would be best to go with now

I bunch of people say the IR is the best, because it doesn't scare the animals with a flash. I have 1000s and 1000s of pictures with a white flash and the deer just stand there.

Let me know if find something good at a deal.

I mainly use a camera on feeders and mineral sites, so the super fast trigger speed is not necessary.

Also, It it is hard for me to strap a $300 camera on a tree. I like to stay in the $100 range.

This tread and club work last weekend made we want another camera. So I went back and did additional research.

I ordered a Primos 35 from Sportsmans guide yesterday and had a $10.00 off coupon that covered shipping.
Bottom line $89.97 to my door.

A club member has two of the Primos and loves them. They get great reviews from Chasingame.com.
Trigger speed is great (1.3 seconds) and good battery life. The only negative I could find were you might get some white out pictures if the camera was in heavy tree cover (camera had a hard time determining if it is night or day).
IMO still a great camera for under $100. I hope to get it out soon.

I have a primos 46. I put it out over a month ago and it has taken over 700 pics and still has 65% battery left. The pics are good the ones right before dark and before daylight are a little dim but other than that it works great.
