Another Red on the Fly

Post by KyTrkyHntr »

Headed further East today to meet up with Barhopr to try and find some fish. We make our run to the first spot and we were on fish right away. This one ate my shrimp pattern offering without hesitation!!

Mills poled me around a little while longer and I spook more fish waving the rod and dropping the fly too close...

Decided to change it up and I tried to pole us around for a while.... We circled, zigged and zagged the flat for a while and spot a few more fish, but no connections.

Good day on the water and thank you Mills for poling and running me around today! I really appreciate it!

She shore is purdy! I like those single-spotters.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.

You guys don't be too hard on him..... I didn't give him any real legitimate shots!! It was my first time poling someone around besides me and he didn't give me any crap about the boat going all over the place!! :-D

That's an 8 1/4 pound red caught in about 18" of water, no further than 10' from the boat fellas.
He was right on our 3 o'clock when I saw him. I told KY to lead him a good ways to not spook him and let it drop. Just as he gets right on it.....strip, strip, stop......gills flare.......stick him and come tight! FISH ON. Nothing like seeing them eat.

Damn fine job Tim. Let's do it again.

If you want to learn how to pole, leave the rods at home. :)

Nice red, btw.
