where were you 9/11/01
Where were you when you heard about the 9/11 attack?
What were your first thoughts?
What were your first thoughts?
WHOSE FISH IS IT?
Re: where were you 9/11/01
I was fishing at Ecofina, caught a great mess of fish and came home and was cleaning the fish and my wife said, "You have got to stop and come in here. Something has happened." What a day for America! Let us never forget! Prayers for the families who have lost loved ones and for our nation. IN GOD WE STILL NEED TO TRUST!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I was in Greg Issac's basement, on a ladder stringing up some lights so they could put the floor down.

Holland, MI preparing to celebrate my 22nd Birthday. I had just returned from buying a grill for a cook-out we had planned that evening when the announcement was made. Party was cancelled as were classes. A moment of silence, group prayer, in the main green was organized.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

I was driving down the main street and got a call. I got my wife on the phone and to a TV.
I was fairly certain my Marine training was going to get put to use.
I expected anarchy but was wrong about that.
I know as the week has passed my aggitation level has risen.
I don't think burning thing is right, I also know that killing folks because they are American or not Muslim ain't right either.

Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

Chicago with wife and 2 children. We had been in the Sears Tower the day before. I can't immagine what the victims had to go through. Our car rental company let us drive the car back to Atlanta and refunded the extra cost - we never asked them to (Avis). There was a lot of sacrifice like that during that time.

Was serving as a manufacturing plant manager for a plastic injection molding company in Lubbock, Texas. I was participating in a staff meeting when someone came in and told us about the first plane.
We stopped work (several hundred employees) and all met in the cafeteria and watched the news on tv through the fall of the second tower. At that point we made the decision to go back to work, and everyone worked in complete stunned silence.
Was still in the USMC IRR at the time, and as WAM said I thought I would get a call within the week (not that many Marine reserve tank units so big time combat hits, most go). I actually called my unit the evening of 9/11 to be sure they had my contact info right / knew how to reach me. Two of our sister units did get the call early on once the Afghan/Iraq missions kicked off. I got held for an extra year stop loss, and as luck would have it got my honorable discharge papers about a month before my unit got called to go in and replace one of our sister units.

MY OLD FISHIN FRIEND AND BUDDY WERE HEADIN BACK HOME FROM FISHING THE ECONFINA, WHEN WE GOT JUST SOUTH OF THE CAPITAL BLD. WE WERE STOPPED AND DETOURED AROUND THE CAPITAL, AT THIS POINT WE WERE TOLD ABOUT THE PLANES HITTING THE TWIN TOWERS, WE SHOULD HAVE WIPED OUT ALL OF THE ISLAMIC NATIONS THE NEXT DAY!!!! MY BLOOD STILL BOILS JUST THINKING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED ON THAT DAY. FRIENDS WE BETTER WAKE UP AND TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND CUT OUT THIS TALKING. PULL OUR TROOPS OUT AND LET A COUPLE OF NUKES HIT THE DESERT, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

I was teaching class at the middle school I am at now. TV was on when the second tower went down.

My wife and I were engaged and in Atlanta.
We called each other that morning to say hi and I turned on the TV while we were talking.
Could not believe what was happening.
Went to work - There were 4 folks in my office that had just moved from NYC.
Everyone was huddled around a TV - we stayed there all day.

Was on my way home from TCC to take care of my father who at the time was bed ridden with Cancer. I got home and turned on the TV to see the first tower on fire. I lifted him out of bed and carried him to the living room just as the second plane hit. The only feeling that I can remember is numb. I then took him back to his bedroom and went to work. It is still mind boggling to me that it happend.
I was watching the History channels special on 9/11 last night. It was amazing to me to listen to Mrs. Rice recall the events that followed and shocked to hear her say how disorganized everything was. My heart goes out to anyone who lost someone in this horrible part of our history.

Jury duty, Gwinnett County courthouse in Lawrenceville, GA
We were all sent home. The court house went into lock down
Feelings?? Mad as hell when they found out what was being done by these radicals.

I pulled up to a slab my guys were pouring on a house I was building. Head guy had his radio in his truck on, and when I pulled up he asked if I heard what was going on. Listened for a few minutes, then headed for the house. Turned on the tv, and watched for a few minutes. Grabbed my .45, and either a shotgun or a rifle and went back to work. Didn't know how it would all play out, but wanted to be sure I was ready.
