CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO GET A BOAT TITLE FOR A BOAT THAT WAS LAST TITLED IN FLA. THIS IS A BOAAT THAT I REFINISHED AND SOLD TO A FRIEND OF MINE. I GAVE HIM THE BILL OF SALE TO GET IT TITLED BUT GA. DEPT. OF RESOURCES DOES NOT ACCEPT BILL OF SALES TO REGISTER A BOAT ANYMORE. THIS BOAT STILL IS REGISTERED IN FLA. BUT I CAN NOT FIND THE PERSON I GOT IT FROM. HE GAVE ME A BILL OF SALE OF WHICH I STILL HAVE. I HAVE HAD BOATS REGISTERED WHERE I RECLAIMED A SUNKEN BOAT AND REWORKED IT, THE TITLE I BELIEVE STATED THAT IT WAS A SALVAGE ON THE TITLE, I DO NOT KNOW IF THEY STILL DO THIS ANYMORE. ANY HELP ON THIS WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIEATED.

Have fun with that one. Flint Pirate and I went through that last year and it took almost 3 months. You just have to go to the tag office and ask them what they need and keep going back. You would think it would be easier.

The best way to contact GA Registration dept is by email, gaboats@infospherix.com and they may want your original bill of sale as well as the bill of sale to your friend. They either need to be notorized or signed by a witness.

You should have got the boat from Mexico. Not only would you have not had to register it, but the US Govt would also give you free gas and maintainance for life!

Go to Tallahassee, I think it is the Neil Kirkman building on the parkway. Go to the first floor and ask about a quick title. They print them right there on the spot. Don't know about the othwer issue but that is where ALL titles come from in Florida. I picked one up in fifteen minutes before.

Good luck

They are out before Capital Circle and across from McDonalds

HEY REELCATCH, I TRIED TO SEND A PM BUT COULD NOT GET IT TO GO. WHAT PAPERWORK DID YOU HAVE TO HAVE TO GET THE QUICK TITLE. ALL I HAVE ARE BILL OF SALE, MANUFACTURE NUMBER, THE NUMBERS ON THE BOW OR THE REGISTRATION NUMBERS. THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION YOU POSTED, WILL APPRECIATE AND LIGHT YOU CAN SHOW ON THIS MATTER.

I hope you have better luck than I am having! I bought a 15 foot Gheenoe, trailer, and broken down 6 horse outboard from a guy back in 2002 here in GA. I only paid about $600 and didn't get a bill of sale. He had only used it in his pond and had never registered it. The boat was probably built in the early 80's and the Coast Guard plate fell off and got lost while I was using it duck hunting. I've only been using it in my private pond so I've never tried to register it. I decided to get it legal so I could use it in the Flint River. I had no problem getting a tag for the trailer but the GA DNR says I have to get a bill of sale and statement from the previous owner as to why he never registered it before I can register the boat in GA. The old guy doesn't live there anymore and for all I know has passed away. I explained this to the lady at DNR in Albany and she called Atlanta but they won't register it without the info from the previous owner. I guess I'll have to get more creative and less honest if I will ever be able to get it registered...

RHETTLEY, I HAVE ABOUT COME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION. THEY WILL MAKE A LIAR OUT OF A HONEST PERSON. I AM STILL TRYING TO TRACK DOWN THE GUY THAT HAD THE BOAT REGISTERED IN FLA. SO I CAN GET A DUPLICATE TITLE TO GET IT REGISTERECD HERE IN GA. IF I CAN NOT GET A COPY OF THE TITLE I AM JUST GONNA GRIND OFF THE REGISTATION NUMBERS THAT ARE ON THE BOAT AND TRY TO REGISTER IT AS HOME MADE AND GO FROM THERE. THE GAME WARDEN IS THE SON OF ONE OF MY FREINDS, HE WILL HAVE TO COME OUT AND ASSIGN ME A VIN NUMBER WHICH I WILL BOLT TO THE TRANSOM , THEN REAPPLY FOR THE REGISTRATION HERE IN GA. IF ALL OF THIS FAILS, THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE I HAVE IS TO GO REGISTER IT IN ALA..
