I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS. I know that operating a motorized vessel is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and fish this tournament unless I am medically able, physically fit, and properly trained to operate my vessel. I assume any and all risks associated with this event, included but not limited to collisions with submerged objects, other vessels, and/or anglers; effects of weather, including high heat and/or humidity, lightening, potentially cold water and air temperatures; boat traffic; and all other such risks being known and acknowledged by me. I agree to abide by all decisions made by the Tournament Director and his staff. Knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, covenant not to sue, and waive, release and discharge all tournament officials, volunteers and all sponsors including their agents, employees, assigns or anyone acting on their behalf from any and all claims or liability of death, personal injury or negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons mentioned in the waiver. This release and waiver extends to all claims of every kind and nature whatsoever, foreseen or unforeseen, known or unknown.

Tournament Rules and Regulations
The following rules are binding to all contestants participating in the Kappa Alpha Big Bend Flats Challenge Fishing Tournament. In cases of uncertainty and ambiguity pertaining to the wording and understanding of these rules, final interpretation will be the sole responsibility of the tournament director and his staff. Infringement of any of these rules may result in a maximum penalty of disqualification from the tournament.
1. Tournament Date: The tournament will be held on Saturday, October 9th 2010. In case of a major event or holiday, the tournament director and staff may change the date no later than one month in advance of the tournament. Weather conditions, if severe, may postpone the tournament.
2. Tournament Place: The tournament will be co-hosted by Jerry’s Bait & Tackle, located at 664 Woodville Hwy, Crawfordville, FL 32327. Entrants must sign in after 5:30 AM on Saturday morning and check in no later than 5:00 PM Saturday afternoon at Jerry’s Bait and Tackle in order to be eligible for weigh in.
3. Participation and Eligibility: All fishermen that submit a completed entry form and signed legal waiver that arrives in the Tournament Director’s possession prior to launching boat on Saturday October 9th may enter one boat in the tournament. Sponsors that are given free entries may also enter one boat in the tournament per entry provided that they submit a completed entry form and signed legal waiver prior to blastoff on Saturday October 9th. Each boat is allowed a maximum of three (3) fishermen onboard during the course of the tournament. You may have extra occupants on the boat as long as they do not fish and it does not violate coast guard regulations regarding boat occupants. Consequently, each fisherman is required to possess a current Florida Saltwater Fishing License in his name at the time of the tournament. Individuals that have fished two or more tournaments requiring an entry fee of $200 or more in the four months prior to Saturday October 9th 2010 are deemed professionals by the tournament staff and are not permitted to enter.
4. Fees: The entry fee for each boat is $100 and must be in the tournament director’s hand by blastoff on October 9th, 2010.
5. Refunds: If proper notification is made to the tournament director at least seven (7) days prior to the tournament, entry fees will be refunded.
6. Tackle: Artificial baits and lures are permitted as well as natural baits. An unlimited number of rods and reels are also permitted on board. All fish must be caught and landed from the boat on a rod and reel, although dip nets may be used to bring the fish from the water to the boat. Electronic fishing aids are permitted.
7. Boats and Motors: All boats and motors used in the tournament must be properly registered and carry all Coast Guard required safety equipment. Boat motors must NOT exceed B.I.A. Plate Rating.
8. Safety: Any member of the tournament staff may inspect boats prior to launch for safety. Safe boating and fishing practices must be observed at all times during the tournament. The tournament director reserves the right to disqualify any contestant for dangerous or malicious conduct at any time during the tournament.
9. Tournament Hours: Sign in will begin at 5:30 AM at which time entrants may launch their boat at any landing of their choice, and each boat must return to Jerry’s no later than 5:00 PM.
10. Measuring: Tournament standings will be determined by total weight of boat stringer. Only Sea Trout and Redfish may be weighed in. There will be a limit of two Redfish and two Sea Trout per boat (for a total of four fish); at no time during the tournament should a boat have more than its legal state limit of fish in the boat. Partners will mutually agree on a way to divide the boat’s winnings if received. Each boat must weigh-in its own fish; any sharing of fish between boats will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament for all boats involved. Mutilated or white-eyed fish will not be weighed in. To be counted, a Redfish must measure between 18 and 27 inches from the tip of the tail to the end of the closed mouth. Tails will be pinched to determine the legal length. Sea Trout must measure at least 15 inches in length. Any illegal fish will be the contestant’s responsibility and will be removed from the stringer. Ties: The lesser number of fish breaks heavier stringer ties, and heavy stringers will break big fish ties. In the event that ties cannot be broken on this basis, there will be a coin toss to determine tournament placement.
11. Courtesy and Sportsmanship: Competitors are expected to display appropriate sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation at all times. No fisherman may fish within fifty (50) yards of another angler’s boat. There will be no passing of other competitors in a NO-WAKE area.
12. Restricted Areas: No fisherman is permitted to fish within fifty (50) yards of another contestant.
13. Late Penalty: There will be only one official checkpoint for sign-in and weigh-in. No excuses will be accepted under any circumstances for the following late penalties. Contestants who check in more than five minutes late to weigh-in will be disqualified. The tournament director will keep the official time and will determine whether or not a contestant makes weigh-in on time.
14. Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, the tournament director and staff will have the final say. If they deem the conditions to be dangerous or unsafe, they will reschedule the tournament to another date.
15. Protests: Any protests regarding violations of tournament rules should be presented to the tournament director or a member of the tournament staff before the close of weigh-in. The director and staff will make a collective decision regarding the matter and take proper action as deemed appropriate.
