Salt-x

I've invested a bit of money in some new reels and was told that I needed to use Salt-x to help prevent corrosion. I did purchase a bottle and have used it after each trip but it seems like it might be a little expensive in the long run. I did some searching on the internet about what others thought and most said that a spray bottle with soap and water followed by a good rinse with clean water is sufficient. I also have each reel loaded with braid.

What do you use? Any recommendations?

A bucket with mild soapy fresh water. Put them in the bucket while you clean the boat/fish...ezpz

I use it on my reels and rods.
It helps get the salt build up/residue that mono and braid leave on the guide inserts. It may not seem like much of an issue but these salt deposits basically act as sand paper on your line which will lead to fraying and eventually failure. Take care of your tackle and it'll take care of you.

Thanks for your suggestions. Good PMCS always keeps equipment in good working order.

Run to failure. Replace. Repeat.
