Snapper Season part Deaux--kayak style

Post by Talltails »

I drove over to Destin this morning and met Chris Lewis on the beach at dawn. A sporting 15 knot north wind really made it's presence known about a mile out. We finally made it to our spot 2.5 miles out and in about 65 feet of water.
I quickly caught a 20+ inch red snapper and a 23" gag grouper in my first couple dropsImageImageChris and I caught fish for a good solid 3 hours this morning with my biggest snapper going about 23 and Chris' biggest gag going 24
ImageI lost a big AJ boatside after battling him for several minutes. That was my first effort using butterfly jigs and I was impressed with their effectivness and ease of use in a kayak. Exhausting, but great day on the waterImage

Very cool TT. You must have had some good numbers. A fresh Grouper or Snapper sandwich is always a good thing too.
