NFGFC Meeting Recap
Posted: October 8th, 2010, 10:26 pm
The monthly NFGFC meeting was held Thursday evening at the Beef O’ Brady’s on Thomasville Rd. There were about 50 members in attendance and one great guest speaker. Thanks to the efforts of Mathew Jacobs, Capt. Mike Hakala of Aqua Dream Lures joined us for an evening of fun and fishing education.
Captain Mike walked us through a typical day of fishing aboard his boat from dawn to dusk starting out with topwater in the morning, and gradually working downward through the water column as the day progresses. Along the way, he discussed the type of rods he uses for each different type of bait and fishing conditions, line types, lure color selection, lure presentation, and far too many other topics to list.
After Capt. Mike finished answering all of our questions, he stayed around for the raffle and donated several Aqua Dream Spoon Kits, fishing hats and countless stickers. Also included in the raffle was a 7 foot spinning rod donated by NFGFC sponsor Falcon Rods Corp. and an entire table of other great items including a large tub of Gulp 3 inch Shrimp, Miro Lures, a Fish Grips, and soft plastic baits provided by Kevin’s Sporting Goods.
Speaking of Kevin’s Sporting Goods, they are sponsoring our tournament on October 9th out of the Econfina Boat ramp as well. I understand that Capt. Mike stayed to practice fish on Friday and will be joining us at the tournament. Hope to see all of you there.
