Topwater....Zara Spook

I don't throw a topwater plug often and the ones I do throw are smaller and usually have propellers..I've never really liked the looks or "walk the dog" action of a Zara Spook, so I never owned one until I saw one in the tackle store the other day that looked like it might actually attract fish.. I bought my first Zara Spook, tried it for the first time yesterday, and caught my first fish (or should I say fishes) on one.... These thing might actually work! Two at once and one was a keeper.

Juan did some good catchin' yesterday. He got this 25 inch red, and we also picked up a couple of limits of trout, a striped bass, and some flounder. It was a good day all round, enjoyed fishing with you Juan.

Any tips on catching flounder? Do you fish the sandy spots? Drag a jig and grub? Some say you count to 50 before you set the hook? Any pointers would be appreciated.
I've caught very few accidently.

Are asking about catching flounder on top exclusively or in general?

Thanks again OD... it was certainly a great day!!
I normally target the flatties this time of year but we caught these completely by accident... They're in the fryin' pan as I type.
My secret weapon is a gulp tipped with a small piece of flounder belly caught from a previous trip on a 1/4 oz jig and then I tie a snap swivel about 2 feet up from that and stick a D.O.A. on the swivel ....another 12 inches to a barrel swivel tied to the main line (12 to 17 lb flourocarbon for the leader)... 8 to 10 lb test main line. Drag and twitch it across (keeping it on the bottom) any sandy spots, especially if there's grass nearby. Might sound weird...but I've caught a lot of doubles that way.

Juan:
Thanks a lot.
I must apologize for changing the subject to flounder. I was so excited over your fine catch of flounder, I completely forgot about your main topic, Zara Spook. I was also in a fast hurry and have worried about what I did all evening.
Thank you for being so understanding and generous with your knowledge. I'll have to go over that rig several times to get it down. Reminds me of long lining with all those hooks.
We are learning and at age 69, we have to learn in a hurry. Time is running out!
A GREAT report.
Who said an Old Dog couldn't learn a new trick?
You'll teach 'um!

I know there's no fish in your spots.
I thought I was wrong ONCE, but I was mistaken.
