The negative tide in the morning kept us off the shoreline and out of the creeks until later in the day. Still, the trout bite was on fire! Too bad, cause we were targeting redfish (pesky trout :smt047 ). Topwater and suspending plugs barely outperformed plastic flukes. The redfish action heated up when the tide came in enough to reach the shoreline. This over-slot red crushed a large topwater plug . . .

The bald eagle in the background did not seem to mind our intrusion, and we got a very close-up look at him (or her, judging by the amount preening going on :smt061 ).

With a limit of redfish, and tiring of catching pups hand over fist, we moved out to bull red country. Here is one that looks like something tried to eat it (judging by the dorsal fin). . .

Stephen (down from Kentucky) got in on the action with this monster. . .

Water was very clear, 62 to 64 degrees. One of those days that reminds me to thank God for this wonderful world. :smt041

I see the shoreline was productive. Much action up the creeks?

Not so much, haliaetus; but then, we did not venture too far up the creek.
