Deer 12-4-2010

OK so I am sitting Saturday mourning drinking my coffee upset because I have to work today. Great mourning for fishing but I have to go in for a half a day.
I sat and watched three does playing in the yard by the back fence when low and behold this 10 point walked out!!! Almost fell over when I saw him. I grabbed the rifle and eased out the garage. Drew a bead on him and shot. He ran off. Thinking I missed I went back in the house and eat breakfast and preparing for the day. Convinced I could not have missed at that distance I walked out to the fence to look for him. Sure enough he was on the other side and struggling. I ran back to the house to get a gun to finish him off and came back. No deer. I tracked him for about 15 or 20 minutes. Finally got where I could see him. He was hobbling off away from me about 50 yards away. I drew a bead again and shot. Only a 9MM so he kept going. I tried to shoot again but no more bullets. (note keep gun loaded FULLY) I broke off into a dead run. He was headed for a swamp and I was not loosing this deer. I caught him and pulled my knife for my pocket and cut his artery. After several minutes I called and had another shell brought out and finished him. I should also note this is my first buck. 51 and this is the first one. I am still trying to find the other horn. He broke it off during the tracking portion. I have an idea of where so I am determined I will find it. If not Harden said he has sheds from Texas and can match it up if necessary.
