JUAN, IF YOU WILL TURN ON YOUR SPRINKLER ON THE CITRUS TREES AND ICE THEM IN AND LEAVE THE WATER RUNNING UNTILL THE ICE MELTS THE TREES WILL NOT BE HURT, RUINS THE FRUIT BUT SAVES THE TREES. I LEARNED THIS FROMA 14 YEAR OLD BOY I WAS TRAINING TO BUD CITRUS DOWN IN HIGHLAND COUNTY FLA. HE HAD A SMALL PLOT OF CITRUS BUDDED TREES ABOUT 1 YR OLD AND HE FROZE THEM IN , I HAD 160 GROVE AND SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND BUDDED CITRUS TREE THAT ALL GOT KILLED, I WAS USING SMUDGE POTS AND ALMOST 8,000 GAL. OF BUNKER C OIL THAT DID NOT DO A BIT OF GOOD. WAIT TILL LATE MARCH AND NICK THE MAIN TRUNK OF THE TREE STARTING AT THE TOP AND GO DOWN UNTIL YOU GET TO GREEN WOOD WHEN YOU NICK IT, CUT IT OFF,. IF IT IS ABOVE THE BUD IT WILL COME BACK.

Thanks PA, Actually I left a sprinkler running on them a few days ago when it was so cold...it worked on the citrus trees but the ice build up on the peach trees was so thick, the weight of the ice broke a couple of the trees... I didn't think the 30 degrees we had last night would do any harm....I was wrong... I've got the sprinklers running again tonight...another hard freeze is predicted for the next couple of days.
