It's my understanding that GPS' being operated at altitudes of 4K- 25K feet will be the most impacted and that there should be minimum interference for those operating outside of those parameters. By no means do I work for the FAA, but some of our folks looked into this issue and that's what they have advised, I hope they are correct.
testing of the WAAS system, (Wide Area Augmentation System) ...It's a GPS based Navigation system that Augments the FAA's land Based LRR (Long Range Radar system, both beacon and search) . Tests are normally conducted near coastal areas due to the limitations(distance) of the LRR's out over large expanses of water.....
